Evergreen Cemetery is the largest cemetery in Campbell County, Kentucky. It is nestled amongst outlining trees and rolling hills. The cemetery spans 250 acres and accept burials from throughout the region. People interred in this historic cemetery range in age from 1800 to the present. Our location optimizes all seasons. Springtime brings fresh smells of blooming foliage, Summer encompasses the sounds of nature and green trees. Fall illuminates vibrant colors of changing leaves and winter feels enchanting with blankets of sparkling snow. This historic cemetery is located a few miles south of Newport, which is now the City of Southgate. The Cemetery was established in the 1840's replacing the original Newport Cemetery. This cemetery was constructed in 1872, seven years later the cemetery was officially acknowledged as Evergreen.  A chapel was constructed on the grounds in 1902 and is used for funeral services and layouts. General James Taylor Jr. considered to be the founder of Newport, Kentucky is buried here. Along with well known congressman Brent Spence. This cemetery was also used in the filming of Rain Man.
